Black screen error when booting to live cd (10.10) on white macbook 3,1
when I start my MacBook I hit the Alt button and choose to boot from the
LiveCD (with Ubuntu 10.10). It boots to the LiveCD but shows only a black
screen with some white text reeding:
1.
2.
Select CD-ROM Boot Type: (and then a blinkning _ cursor)
It does not respond to my keyboard, i have to force quit with the power
button. This did not happen when I installed on a virtual machine in os x,
then the live cd worked just fine, but i want to dual boot the two
operating systems.
I'm running on a white MacBook late 2007 (MacBook3,1), and have followed
these two guides:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/10/dual-boot-os-ubuntu
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/How%20to%20install%20Ubuntu%20on%20MacBook%20using%20USB%20Stick
that means I have installed rEFIt. I have also tried a usb (doesn't
recognise the HDD) and Ubuntu (12.04) LiveCD.
Please help if you know anything, I cant seem to find any related problem
on-line.
